Commander's Corner
Greetings
to you all, the month of March was unpredictable in both the weather
and Post activities. I am Proud to Announce that our Post Sgt
at Arms Megann Marten and myself were presented with our Certificates
for the District 13 Honor Guard. We along with members from a
few of the other posts have been honoring our fallen comrades.
We are the first Group in California to have been certified and
presented with certificates and D.O. D. pins which we wear proudly.
For those of you who did attend the St. Patrick's Day Dinner Dance
I do hope that you enjoyed the meal as well as the entertainment.
Please take note that April 7th there will be No Friday night
Dinner Dance, at present the numbers of patrons has been declining,
so the option of shutting down to save expenses was done. On a
good note on that date we will be having the Tap Industries Tool
Show again, it came as a surprise and we took advantage of it.
There will be many tools on sale, as well as other items of interest.
April 14th there will be No Friday Night Dinner as well,
Since this is Good Friday. On April 28th we will again be having
the "Attack Band" playing, and as last time from 7:00pm
to 9:00pm it will be Country and Rockabilly, and then from about
9:30pm to 11:00 pm it will be Rock and Roll and some Blues music.
Dinner Tickets will be $15.00, dance tickets will be $8.00 so
come out and check out something new.
If anyone is interested in Homeland Security the District does
have a committee from a few of the other posts. I have the name
and number of the District individual who is in charge of this
committee, so if anyone is interested please call the back bar
or call me and I will give the information.
A Car Show is scheduled for May 27th, Memorial Week End and we
do have flyers now so, plan on coming down and enjoying the cars
and our Bar-B-Q and Music, featuring ah you should have guessed
the Attack Band
Fly your Flags Proudly and Remember our younger Comrades still on Active Duty.

Membership for 2006 edged up by one percentile to 90% of objective
since the last report. Hopefully, with spring just breaking out,
you holdouts will discover treasures socked away for the winter,
which can now be used to restore your active membership (and get
#X&/% me off your backs).
GOT A CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY THAT ISN'T BEING USED? CONSIDER DONATING
IT TO THE BENEFIT OF YOURSELF AND THE POST. YOU GET A TAX WRITE
OFF AND THE POST GETS A PORTION OF THE VALUE OF THE EVENTUAL SALVAGE
OR SALE OF THE VEHICLE. CALL 1 800 916 7788 TO EXPEDITE THE DONATION.
AND TELL A FRIEND
TELL A BUNCH OF FRIENDS.
I had a Saint Patrick's Day lunch at the post of the traditional
corned beef and cabbage. Linda and Earl did a great job; the meal
was plate licking good as usual and scarfed up by our Irish members
(especially those whose names ended with a vowel). Lunch is an
every Friday event and costs only $5 per person. You can earn
some brownie points with your "Honey" by bringing (him/her)
out over to the Post and having lunch with us.
We our still expanding our membership roster to include Email
addresses. As soon as Ralph debugs the system we will start E-mailing
The "Howdy" to your homes. In the mean time, members
who have computers are encouraged to provide their email addresses
to the Post if you have not done so. Please email you screen name,
telephone number and address (as it appears on the address label
of the "Howdy") to me at VICECOMDR@YAHOO.COM.
See you at the membership, first Wednesday in April.

Were
you able to make it to the Crab Feed? A good dinner for those who
did. Put it on your schedule for next year. Commander Steve also
arranged for a packed house in February with the Attack Band performing.
All age groups for that Friday night. And Steve has the band scheduled
to play again Friday April 28th. What one focuses on expands --
good or bad. Give some though/focus into the activities Post 419
offers (check the monthly schedule) and you'll find a lot of good
opportunities to come on by. February's Post Meeting included a
fine talk from the County Veterans Service Officer, supplying information
on various benefits available to you. Check out the national website:
www.legion.org and you'll find
under New Releases, a place where you can sign up to receive automatically
the latest Legion New Releases. The following is an example:
Legion Leader Blasts U.N. Report on GITMO
The leader of the nation's largest veteran's organization blasted
a new U.N. report calling for the closing of the detention facilities
at Guantanamo Bay as "incredibly inaccurate." A draft
of the report...

New
members Jim Parks, Felipe Luna and Joseph Hoffman, welcome. At our
last membership meeting, Comrade Al Goulart's name was called; he
was not present and did not win $75. April membership prize will
be $80. The 50/50 attendance drawing was won Ken Aust. Elections
for convention delegates and nominations for officers for 2006-7
will be held at the April meeting. Come and make your voice heard.
Thank You.
